Description

A creamy, layered strawberry dessert featuring a buttery sugar cookie crust, sweet strawberry cream cheese filling, silky vanilla pudding, fluffy whipped topping, and fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crockerâ„¢ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for drop cookies
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 container (7.5 oz) strawberry cream cheese spread, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 container (12 oz) Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 boxes (4-serving size each) Jell-Oâ„¢ vanilla-flavor instant pudding and pie filling mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries (about 6 oz)

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Prepare and bake the sugar cookie mix as drop cookies according to package directions. Cool completely for at least 20 minutes. Reserve 4 cookies for topping.

2. Process half of the remaining cookies into coarse crumbs, then repeat with the rest. Combine all crumbs with the melted butter until evenly moistened. Press firmly into the bottom of an ungreased 13×9-inch glass baking dish to form the crust.

3. In a large bowl, beat the strawberry cream cheese spread, powdered sugar, and strawberry jam until smooth. Fold or beat in 2 cups of the whipped topping. Spread evenly over the cookie crust.

4. In another medium bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mixes and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Spread over the cream cheese layer. Spoon the remaining whipped topping over the pudding and spread evenly. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.

5. Before serving, crumble the reserved cookies and sprinkle over the top along with the chopped fresh strawberries. Cut into 24 squares and refrigerate any leftovers.

Notes

Microwave the cream cheese spread for about 15 seconds if needed to soften before mixing.

Strawberry jam creates a smoother filling than preserves because it contains no large fruit pieces.

For best texture and flavor, chill the dessert for the full 4 hours before serving.
